If I made an agreement with someone over email and a sure thing came up, I would take it if the emailer hadn't payed yet. It is a lot of people's policy to sell to the first to cough up the money. For example, a guy wanted to buy my NA A/C lines from me. We agreed on a price, I sent him pics (he responded quickly during this period), and now the time has come to pay and I haven't heard from him in days. If I passed up a local sale because he said he wanted them, I'd be getting the short end of the stick.
